Open Forum Event, March 15, 2012

March 15, 2012, RCC’s Student Success Summit Committee, a subcommittee of the Student Success Committee, will be hosting an “open forum” event.

The event will be held from 12:50 p.m. to 1:50 p.m. in the Bradshaw Cafeteria at the Riverside campus.

According to the online flyer published on RCC’s website, the forum is going to be an “open dialogue for institutional improvement at Riverside City College,” and will allow students to voice their opinions and engage in open dialogue with other students, staff, faculty members, and administrators.

According to Ra Botra, a classified staff member of the Student Services Department at the Riverside City Campus, the S.S.S.C. is hoping to have a large number of students and faculty members attend the event.

“We are really hoping to see high attendance,” Botra said in a telephone interview.

Botra, an S.S.S.C. member since the committee’s inauguration in the 2010-2011 school year, said this will be the first event of its kind at RCC.

“The Open Forum event is really a continuation to the questionnaire we handed out in a campus-wide survey last fall,” said Botra.

The main focal point for the event and dialogue will be student success and questions will be based on the results of the questionnaires.

Rachel Quintoz, a 20 year old psychology major, will be attending the event. “I am really excited that with the economy and other hardships we’re facing as students, our school and administrators are giving us a chance to hear us out and steer us in the right direction,” said Quintoz.
