If you have been keeping up with the women's volleyball team at Riverside City College, then you know that they have been giving it their all. After winning 5 consecutive games of the 7 played so far this season, this team has something to be proud of. They are on the road to success, with their head coach Monica Trainer leading the way. She sees nothing but dedication and hard work from her team, as they reach to bigger and better things.
Monica Trainer stated in a 2008 interview "I feel our team is the team that will continue to get better." She honestly sees great hope in her team succeeding, especially with such talented athletes as Savannah Breazile and Brittney Diffini helping their team game by game. Savannah and Brittney are only freshmen, yet they are ranked at the top of the list. Now that's impressive. Both girls put their own spin into the game helping the team reach its success, but it's not easy.
After playing 4 tournaments a week the girls must be exhausted, but they keep their focus, maintain a good performance, and do well in school. Such hard work and dedication is something to be admired.
On September 2nd, the team won its first game of the season against the Southwestern College of Chula Vista with leading scores of 25-12, 25-10, and 25-21.
After that victory losing just doesn't seem to be an option. Two days later they played Mt. San Jacinto College as well as Chaffey from Riverside, bringing home victories from both games. Then on September 12th they won 2 more games with one intensley close match.
Their next games will be on September 23rd at 2 p.m. at Riverside City College against San Bernardino Valley and at 5 p.m. against Desert. So be sure to stop by and support our winning team!
