In early September, Gomez  visited the poverty ridden region of Ghana, Africa, where she had the opportunity to help bring clean water, nourishment, and access health care to the region.

She also had the chance to educate communities in Ghana about the preventable deaths happening there on a daily basis and what they can do to stop their sky rocketting mortality rates. Ghana is ranked thirty out of one-hundred ninety five countries with the highest mortality rates for children under five.

The actress/activist feels strongly about her work and the ablility to make a difference:“Every day 25,000 children die from preventable causes,...I stand with UNICEF in the belief that we can change that number from 25,000 to zero.”
